To jump start your racing career
As you've discovered, when you logged in for the 1st time, you were directed to the Car Dealership to get your free Project Z, then back to your garage.
At this point, you need to select the 'Race Track' link at the bottom of your game screen.
To earn points quickly you MUST get your car dial-in set, and work on getting great Reaction Times (RT), as close to .0000 as you possibly can.
Here is a great tip: DO NOT hang around the starting line until you see the green light come on. This will result in a slow starting line reaction time and you'll probably end up losing the race
To accomplish this, consistency is the key. Every run you make, try to launch & shift exactly the same each time, whatever Elapsed Time (ET) you run most often (this will be shown as your 1/4 mile time on your timeslip), set this as your dial-in. With a bit of practice you can dial your car in fairly quickly, and learn where to hit the tree for best RT for your current car set-up...in the process, you're earning up to 800 points per run.
This is referred to as Test & Tune.
Once you've earned some points, it's time to buy some parts to build your car up. Select 'Parts Store'. When you select a specific part, there will also be a 'Check Used Availability' option, always check for a chance at getting parts cheaper. There is no car/parts damage on the game, so used parts are perfectly fine. At this point, don't get in a hurry to add HP, you want to 1st concentrate on Suspension Parts, Drag Slicks, and an Adjustable Gearbox (see Gear Ratios). By taking to time to learn how your car reacts to every part you add, it will help you to be ready to better tune your car when it's fully loaded (with all parts & max HP).
As you're developing your skill, join in some tournaments...this will give you a good idea of what you need to strive for. A lot skill & knowledge can be gained by Speed tournaments, and they are a lot of fun! Go from not qualifying, to winning tournaments, earning award points, and increasing your rank. Not to mention, watching your trophies accumulate!
Once you've got your car built up, you may choose to customize your paint. There are many different graphics you can choose from, and you can layer them & choose your own colors to make them uniquely yours, or should you decide to, you can have your own Custom Graphics uploaded into the game. You also can personalize your license plates.
Please join us in our Chat Community. Besides the Game Guide, there are usually some veteran racers in chat, and staff members available to answer questions. AND, you get the chance to meet a lot of good folks, pick up additional tips, and meet prospective Team mates.
We're GLAD you're here, and hope you have a GREAT time!! See you at the track!!
